There has been a shift in our focus with respect to our products--not a seismic shift, but a mini movement. We are so excited to add our sweet nibbles of joy to our repertoire of offerings to our customers, but there was a long journey to get there.

While we continue to make beautiful standard cakes and cupcakes with intricate designs,

we've also been trying to come up with a product that is easily transportable, easily shippable, and still appealing to our customers--that ONE THING that is exclusively ours that nobody else does.

An idea began to take hold after purchasing sample, custom-sized packaging and we envisioned the versatility of small bite-sized cakes.

You can't believe all the things
that go into turning an idea into reality.

Every step was trial and error--sizing the mini cupcake liners, the baking pans, figuring batter ratios. Our recipes had to be tweaked--more eggs, more flour, more cocoa, more of some things; less of others. Since they are smaller, flavors had to come through each bite. We knew we were getting it right when Ella tasted one in our kitchen and exclaimed they are, "Sweet Nibbles of Joy!" That stuck!

What do we call them?

Well, first we were going to pose this problem to our customers, but we had a family meeting and settled it quickly when someone blurted out "CakerTots!" When you know, you know!

Solving Problems

How do we get more custom sized packaging? I'll spare the details, but it was a LONG process involving detailed measurements and talking to people from other countries. They were to be delivered by Mother's Day, but didn't. We had just enough to take care of customers who preordered them and that got us through until finally our shipment came in.

How do we package the package? This process can be fun, but also tedious because we KNOW looks matter! Ella and I hashed out many ideas, drew them on paper, redrew them, bumbled a few ideas, but one original idea we couldn't quit thinking about was the hand grabbing a Tot. Where do you go to get your packaging idea to come to life? For us, it is ALWAYS a do-it-yourself project. Always!

Bought a Cricut

Many hours of learning, researching designs, and finally Ella came downstairs one day with the reality of our idea--the hand grabbing a Tot.

That stuck!

Positive Feedback

We've had so much positivity about our CakerTots and you will never know the appreciation we have for our customers. It has brought tears...and so much gratitude. There is always lots going on behind the scenes so when we receive enthusiastic feedback, it means a lot.

So...your enthusiasm and support is what keeps us going.
Thank-you. - Ellan & Ella
